During this festive fall weekend, I discovered…
–Not all orange-hued foods are created equal.
For example, cantaloupe yogurt is not nearly as delicious as last weekend’s pumpkin pie yogurt discovery.
What possessed me to purchase cantaloupe yogurt? I knew it’d either be amazing or disgusting, and—as usual—my culinary curiosity got the best of me. Unfortunately, it was the latter; there are certain flavors—like watermelon—that I love in their real fruit form but detest in any replicated version. I’m going to have to add cantaloupe into that category.
However, there is an orange flavor that, as of late, I am loving almost as much as pumpkin.
GINGER!
-My newest ginger addiction:
These are fantástico! Along with my calcium gummies and chocolates, I’m going to need to remind myself that these are not candy.
-In light of last week’s reflections of the unifying powers of food, I made several attempts to marry my current foodie obsessions.
For example:
–Honey maple turkey and pickles:
-Cream cheese (veteran obsession) and vegan American cheese (amateur obsession):
-Spicy mustard balsamic dressing and honey maple turkey:
I’m sure you’re sick of the whole honey maple turkey enthusiasm by now—but, seriously, combined with this:
(which I am aware looks like vomit)
‘tis delightful!
Next, taking note of the fact that I’ve been doing some cheesy savory oats damage, I decided to foray into cheesy savory OAT BRAN.
Dare I say it was mejor than cheesy savory oats?
The Laughing Cow was infinitely more creamy and abundant in the oat bran version.
It was rather addicting.
By that, I mean numerous cheesy savory oat bran bowls were replicated throughout the weekend.
I also discovered that it is not only acceptable, but encouraged, to celebrate Thanksgiving on Halloween.
Turkey, spinach, brie and raspberry preserves on whole wheat toast.
So long as you do so on a pumpkin-imbued plate.
And do your best to make up for your wrong-holiday celebrations…
by consuming muchos muchos Kit Kats.
…and going all-out with your costume.
Yes, as many of you guessed, I was THE HAMBURGLAR.
“Robble, robble.”
I hope everyone had an amazing Halloween weekend! Por favor, dime: What’d you dress up as? What was the most creative costume you saw?
-Sarah
Love the Hamburgler costume! I also love the pickles wrapped in turkey! Brilliant.
Canteloupe yogurt?!? Never even heard of it.
I didn’t dress up, but I thought Regis and Kelly were hilarious as Jon and Kate.
That honey maple turkey looks AMAZING. I for one don’t think you should ever get rid of it.(Especially mixed with the spicy mustard balsamic vinegar dressing. I mean how many more words combined could be so delicious?)
Um, I happen to love honey maple turkey, and I bet it would taste amazing with a combo of my two fav condiments, spicy mustard and balsamic vinegar… Great costume btw!
ps. i added you to my blog roll, hope you don’t mind!

Those ginger mints are absolutley addicting. I’m going to have to restock soon even though I got 4 rolls and a tin
That turkey & brie sandwich looks flipping divine. I still haven’t tried savory oats, but I will have to soon!
Your costume is super creative & adorable. I love it.
Nice costume!
I don’t feel quite the same as you on fruit flavored yogurts, but try a yogurt flavor you like over cantaloupe or watermelon. Love it when the fruit juices mix with the yogurt!
the other day i saw a commercial for kit kats and i said out loud to myself that i needed to get my hands on some! I love how you put them in ice cream like that! what if you crumbled the up and mixed it right in! YUMMY

I love your costume, one of my fav McD characters. Your too cute!
I love your costume, one of my fav McD characters.
kitkats are my favorite candy of all time! i can devour a king size bar in like 5 secs. your costume is adorable!!! your friends look cute too. have a great week, girl!!
Broc plus oats and kit kats plus ice cream = pure, unadulterated genius.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the costume!
love the versatility of your costume — you easily could’ve passed as a zebra, convict, zorro..but the hamburglar is absolute brilliance!
cantelope is definitely one of those things not meant to be eaten in yogurt form – similar to salmon or kidney beans – just ain’t right.
love to you on this fine money, pet!
PERFECT costume.. you rocked it out!! 😉 Your girl friends look super cute, too!
What a perfect costume. That is KILLER. Just like those cheesy oats I want 🙂 And I adore the Thanksgiving sandoooo! LOVE YOU!
I aBsOlUtElY love your costume–how fun!
Love your costume!! I was a flapper…not very creative but my daughter(she’s almost three) was a flapper so I thought we’d be twins. 🙂
Hahaha – that costume is hilarious! I love it!!
Loving those savory oats 🙂
love love love your costume! and love your eats maybe even a little more!! I need to master the art of savory oats!
Those newmans own ginger mints are great! I have them and went through them like candy!
I kinda liked the cantaloupe yogurt–despite the artificial sweetener used! You’ve got so many creative snacks/meals in this post! We have those ginger mints on campus–I might get some to try now!
just here to leave a WTF with the meat & pickles kinda comment ?! LOL
love it girl! better you than me 🙂
thx for the entry mania on the chia seeds, I love the enthusiasm, you rock!!!!!!!
hope your week shapes up lovely sweetie 🙂
I was dressed as myself. LOL I would have like to wear a wig but didn’t find it at the last minute.
I just tried the Newman’s ginger “mints” today and told myself the exact same thing – “these are not candy”
I didn’t dress up – but I love your hamburgler costume. Where’d you find those awesome tights?!?
The Hamburglar! That’s such a great costume!!! And hooray for Halloween candy! I bought myself a pack of Butterfingers and as you saw I topped my oats with them 😉 and of course plain is delicious! I also got some Twix! I wish I went trick-or-treating so I could have more. I am also a hard candy fiend lol.
I dressed up as Prince John from Disney’s Robin Hood. Hmm.. most creative? That’s hard.. a lot of my friends went all out since they’re in the sculpture dept. Yes.. some of them WELDED parts of their costumes. And there was lots of glow-in-the-dark magic going on.
Adoro tus posts – como siempre! Muchos besos y abrazos!
XO

Hamburglar! I KNEW it!! 🙂
Kit Kats in ice cream looks like something I’d totally concoct also!! YUMMY!! 🙂
Cantaloupe yogurt? Who makes that? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a thing? Hehehe, your pickles in turkey looked ‘dirrrrty’ – as Xtina A. would say 😉 I’m sorry, I’m twisted. I love how you love savory oats/oatbran. Maybe next time you should throw in some freshly grated ginger and soy? My grandmother used to always make that for me as a kid and I loved it. Your costume was awesome! Loved it. I didn’t dress up this year but my most creative was when I dressed in all black and jumped into a large clear garbage bag and filled it with colored balloons and tied it around my neck with a ribbon. I was a bag of jellybeans – it’s too bad I couldn’t sit down or go to the bathroom 😦
that is one fineeeee lookin hamburglar! i’m a total lame-o and didn’t dress up 😦
great costume!
Cantaloupe yogurt….hmmm…not feeling it! haha
Ooh, is that the cantaloupe Light ‘N Fit? I actually like that one …..but I know what you mean about liking the real version but not “flavors” of real. I love cherries, but cherry-flavored stuff always just reminds me of cough medicine or bad cheapass lollipops. There are certain FLAVORS I love whose real-life versions just don’t do it for me. Ex: Banana froyo is bomb. Bananas, notsomuch. Papayas taste like feet, but papaya sorbet is pretty yummy. And grape Tootsie Pops are my bitch. Can I say the “b” word on here? Gigi, shield your eyes…
Your costume is amazing. I love those tights!!! I did not do one darn thing (that is a lie. I ate pumpkin spice froyo.), but I will say one perk of being an actor is that you tend to have lots of people who eat up costume parties at totally random times of the year. This might have to happen soon…..
oh my gosh! What an awesome costume- so creative (LOVE IT!). Cantaloupe yogurt…hmmm I love regular cantaloupe so much…I’m not sure I could do a yogurt version either. Love savory oats- never tried it with oat bran. Great idea. I will put it on my list of to try-s!
Ahaha you looked so cute in that costume 🙂
Also, all your food looks so tasty! 😛
am i the only one who noticed how TWSS your pic of the turkey and pickles were? : ) i needed a laugh this morning!!! thank you!
i love your costume, what an awesome idea! i did not dress up this year.. maybe next year! lol
HA! LOVE the hamburgerlur costume!! (clearly I don’t know how to spell
I’m ALL about celebrating thanksgiving any time of the year. Thanksgiving in June? Sure, why not!
omg loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee your costume!!!!! 🙂
I tried Stonyfield’s pumpkin yogurt– so delicious! Your costume was so creative and brilliant, I loved it!
Hope you have a fabulous day, beautiful.
Rebecca
hiiii omg i love your blog. sitting in my office starving and drooling. i dressed up as a yankee…oh wait im in your picture!!!
best costume of the night was that ginormous vagina that i have a picture of somewhere 😉
boreddd chat me!!
Ah I LOVE your costume!! It’s so cute. I dressed up as a hippie, but it kind of turned out to be Native American looking. My hair is long and curly, and I wore this embroidered shirt with moccassin boots. Easy and didn’t cost me a cent!
What exactly was in that balsamic mustard dressing? Just those two things? It looks really good.
I just received those Ginger mints from Newman’s Own. I haven’t tried them yet, but now I can’t wait. I think the packaging on those tins are so cool.
ahhhh the hamburglar…i LOVE it. amazing costume. and i tried your ice cream oats and it twas’ pretty much the best thang i’ve put in my mouth at breakfast. love love love.
have a wondrous day 🙂
HAMBURGLAR! I love it.
Everything looks amazing! Love the costume : )
Cute costume! Sorry to hear about that cantaloupe yogurt, it does sound intriguing though.
I dressed up as “Little Bo Peep, The Failed Cult Leader Who Has Lost Her Sheep.” I wore a black cape (in addition to my Bo Peep costume), Nike Heavens, and I drank out of a Kool-Aid Container all night.
The best costume I saw was “Marge Simpson as a Playboy Bunny.”
The Hamburglar! That is fantastic.
I’ve clearly got to get my hands on some honey maple turkey. That sounds awesome.
Had no idea “they” made cantaloupe yogurt! I never really think of cantaloupe as having a strong enough flavor for yogurt. Interesting! Pumpkin sounds better though 😉
agghhh sarah! you’re blog i think got lost on my ‘moving my wordpress blogroll friends to my google reader’ day, because i have been missing out on your posts. i feel so dumb.
but your eats are looking fabulous as usual. savory oats? turkey thanksgiving sandwich? yumm.
and i’ll be sure to stay away from cantaloupe yogurt. eekk. happy november! xoxo
For Halloween, I dressed up as the most beautiful, most intelligent, most generous and modest girl in the world: myself. Wahahaha!
Okay. You. Need to stop eating such GOOD FOOD!! You’re an eating goddess, everything you eat is SO delicious and tempting! Wow~ I really need to make savory oat bran!
Hello everyone, it’s Thanksgiving Day! I’m happy with my extra day off, and I am planning to make something fun that will probably involve a car trip and seeing something new in Worthington I haven’t seen yet.
You write new post at Thanksgiving?
